I just finished posting photos for every day in February. I feel bad I didn't finish before midnight (and the end of the month), but I did it. You can check it out in my Project 365 Blog.
Do you know the main reason why I don't post in the photo blog as often as I could? Because I wish I could figure out a way to make the main part of the template bigger so the photos would be bigger. I will need to ask my friend Zee to help me, I'm sure she can.
OK, I have to go to bed now, but I thought I'd let you know about my photos. Let me know what you think of them! I just wish they could look bigger. :(
Have a great month of March, February is OVER!!!

February: 28 days, 28 photos
I have just decided to join my dear online friend Zee, who is, I must say, a very talented photographer (check out her Etsy photography store!) in her challenge to take and/or post a photo every day in February to the blog.
Hopefully this will help bring to life my abandoned "365 Project" blog! (cross posted there).
P.S. I won't post the photos here, but link to there everyday, OK?

Icicles
Christina (from Mausi) posted photos of the beautiful icicles hanging from the roof of her house in Germany and I decided to do the same. I took these a few minutes ago.

You can see before and after shots of the longest one in my Project 365 blog.
As you can see, I'm moving on. Thanks for all your lovely and supportive comments!

More Updates to 365 Project Blog
Just a shout out about my other blog. I recently posted some photos of K's cousin's wedding (the groom) and of other things (a cashew fruit, a lake, etc). I will try to post everyday, but I'm not promising anything.
This is NOT a New Year's resolution, OK?
I just talked to K on the phone for almost 2 hours, so it was easy to talk and post some photos to the blog. :-)

The 365 Photo Blog is Back!
I was going to write about this only after I'd posted "the first 10 days of 2010," but then it would be a bit of an overdose, I think. 'Cause I post too many pictures, including almost a "photo essay" of Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
There are also fun weather photos (tornadoes anyone?) and some family photos at the pool, etc. It's only six days of photos, but we did quite a bit on those days. Check it out!!
If this is not a stupendous start to photo blogging in 2010, I don't know what is! ;-)

Crab Apple Flowers - Update to the 365 Blog
The first update since January 20!
It begins like this:
"Mommy! Mommy! You've got to come outside!" said my son excitedly last Sunday.
Go there to read the rest and see the photo, if you want. :-)
(It looks like I'm finally making good on my "fluff" promises, right? ;-)

Re-Starting
So, apparently all I needed was to get that out of my system.
I have officially re-started the one photo-a-day "Project 365" blog. So far I've posted only one photo (scroll down), but it's a beginning!
Oh, and I've changed the looks of the blog, added one of my photos to the masthead, or whatever that is called. It does distract folks from the other photos, though. What do you think of it? Should I keep it?

The Day My Life (In Pictures) Stopped
I want to blog more, I want to come back, but there is just so much in my head that it's hard to know where to start...
So, I'll just talk about one irrelevant thing, my failure to continue posting to my "Project 365+1" blog last year.
Interestingly enough, do you know which was my very last post?
Check it out.
(and I'm giving the specific post link, although if you click in the blog link today, it'll get you there. I hope, against hope, to post again someday, so I have to give the proper link).
So, what do you think of this?
To add suspense, the rest of the post is after the cut.

Updating Photo Blog
As usual, here's another announcement that I make once in a while -- I have just uploaded some photos to my Project 365+1 blog (including one photo of the defense -- I hope to post more here). I have tons of things to do, but I took a few minutes to put some pictures there.
A month and a half remains to be done, but hopefully I can manage to do it before we travel on Thursday.

Tons of New Photos
As usual, I have just posted many photos to the Project 365+1 blog.
Home renovation stuff and more.
I'm still not caught up, but there's a lot there.
And now I should probably go back to the dissertation. I'm feeling a bit bad about it, but I took a break today after being so overwhelmed yesterday. I hope that I can go back to my chapter and do something now. I'm not looking forward to it, but I know I have to do it.

Bursting With Photos...
... Particularly house renovation photos.
I have posted lots of photos to my Project 365+1 blog today. A looong post about the guest bedroom renovation and some other random pictures, from newborn baby to passport picture, so check them out.
As for this blog, I'm going to post step-by-step "illustrated" recipes soon. Yummy sweet treats from Brazil that I'm preparing for tomorrow and this weekend. I also owe you photos of the renovation projects that we did last year and those will be forthcoming. That is... if I can find the time since I have to work on the dissertation and I will!! Gotta go do that right now (and check on the cakes that are baking :).

Palimpsest of Paint Colors I (365+1 Blog Post)
I thought some of you might enjoy my latest post at the other blog. My introduction there:
One of the things that an older house (ours is 43 years old) has to offer -- apart from the potential existence of toxic/hazardous materials such as lead and asbestos -- is a glimpse into its past, the way it used to look like (a poorly kept "fixer-upper" like ours more so than others ;).I'm thinking that maybe I'll complete the series over here in this blog :).
Ever since we started painting last September I've been having fun finding out the original colors of some of the rooms and since that's what I photographed tonight, I'll share some of those "color palimpsests" with you (this is the first in a series, I guess).

Old Ugly Carpet Post at 365+1 Blog
I just wanted to let you know that I just posted various photos of the ugly carpet all over our ground floor at the 365+1 Project blog. I wish I could write more today, but I'm cleaning the house and I've decided to sleep over at a friend's house in Philly tonight, so I'll be back tomorrow (unless the cleaning miraculously gets done early and I find sometime to blog before we head to the city).
(and you already know that, but yesterday I added more photos to that blog too)
Have a great weekend everyone! Oh, and my husband arrived safely in Brazil and is heading to my parents' home this evening. It's Carnaval weekend in Brazil (and elsewhere in the world where it's celebrated, like Venice and New Orleans), but I never participated of that, so it doesn't really matter to me, but if you enjoy it:
Feliz Carnaval, Felice Carnivale, Happy Mardi Gras !!

Introducing: Brand NEW 365 Project Blog!!!
I had been thinking about starting a 365 project blog (a "fotolog" or blog for posting a photo a day, at least) since the new year began, but it was not until today that I decided to take the plunge. Of course I just couldn't start without going back and posting entries for the 13 days that preceded today in spite of the fact that I had not taken photos every day. I resorted to a few tricks -- I began with a "traditional" new year's eve photo (soooo cute, you've got to check it out!) and then for a few of the days I didn't have pictures I either used a photo from exactly one year ago, or a photo from a few days later/ earlier.
So... I know I kinda cheated, but I don't really care since almost half (6 out of 14) of those posts had photos taken on the actual date. I'll have to do the same in the future if I know I'll be away for a day or two (post the photos later or earlier)... That's the only way one can manage to post a photo every single day without fail, I guess.
I hope you visit me there! Mama(e) in Translation's 365+1 (+1 because this is a leap year). Right now all the posts are in the first page, all you have to do is scroll to the bottom to look at them in order...

Are you surprised that the very last thing I posted to that blog, with the date of April 16, 2008, is a photo of my dissertation defense?
I kind of was when I first realized that, but then, I started thinking of all the reasons why this coincidence could be highly symbolic.
My life stopped that day, in a sense, because after that joyous moment ("Wonderful" is the title of that day's blog post) came the pits of despair of the grueling revision process. The formatting and the submission to the graduate school were even worse nightmares I blogged about in great detail, step by step until the live blogging the upload. The first resubmission, the second revision, and, finally, the acceptance. And then, after telling you that I thanked you, my online friends, in my acknowledgments, I never blogged about the defense or the dissertation again, I just posted my failed contribution to Mama PhD.
Of course the practical reason for no more pictures in that blog, though, is really prosaic -- we had no functioning camera from June (after my parents left and took their camera) to early August, so I really didn't have what to post. I couldn't get the outlet cable to charge the camera and it took K two months until he finally got around to fiddle with it.
Regardless of the actual reasons, however, I still think it's an interesting metaphor for my life. Photography and making photo albums online is one of my obsessions, something that my dad constantly tells me that I have to stop thinking about. I've been really disappointed with myself that I didn't stick to posting photos daily in that blog. I love doing that and I wish I could keep on doing it.
There's something inside myself that has been keeping me from doing it. I want to try not to spend so much time on these things, even though I really love photos and feel a profound satisfaction when I get to share them.
On the other hand, defending the dissertation was one of the only "nice" things derived from my dissertation. The commencement was OK, but I only had one friend come. What does it mean, anyway, to have them call your name and get your diploma? So I didn't even find the time to write about it in the blog, and to post pictures (here).
I've blogged several times about the "uselessness" of the PhD and my qualms with academia. So, I guess it's very fitting that the photo blog, at least for now, is "stuck" on my defense day.
I need to move on, leave it behind, catch up, begin posting again, and, hopefully, I will.
Life will go on.
