What we did last Sunday -- Cool Time Lapse Video!

If anyone in your life plays Minecraft or Nintendo games (particularly in the WiiU), please tell them to check out and support my son's channel on YouTube!

And if you want to see a cool time lapse of us emptying, moving, and refilling a bookshelf, check out the first three minutes of this video:

Personal Shopper

You know, if that was a viable and existent career option, I think I would make an incredible personal shopper! ;-)

Years ago a friend in Brazil would periodically send me some money and a list so I would shop for clothing for her children, a boy and a girl, who are a few months younger than each of my boys and I loved doing that!

Today I had to buy a birthday present for one of my son's classmates who is turning 13 and is throwing a party for the whole class tomorrow. I asked her friends what her favorite color was and texted her mom to find out her size and I had a great time thinking of the girl and picking something that she might like!

Too bad one can't make a living doing something fun like that!

P.S. I'll share a picture of the outfit later!
Here it is:
Not my favorite color, that's for sure! ;-) I hope she'll like it!

ADHD forgetfulness sucks Vs. Great Skiing!

Edited to add: I won't delete this whiny post. But I wanted to say that the grumpiness only lasted for about half an hour, thankfully. They did make a mistake in my ski's binding which made me waste over 20 minutes and made my first descent scary (I was afraid the ski could come off) and only possible after my patient husband secured the ski to my boot. So we had a lovely few hours in the slopes after all!*

My family came to ski/snowboard  because of me, but of course, my ski jacket stayed home.

I'm still going to ski, but I have no pockets, not even a zipper to put the tag, and I better not fall, because I will be completely wet!

How absolutely exasperating!!! Of course part of the problem is that my husband is the person who brought the stuff to the car, but I should have been checking, even if we were super late and in a hurry  to leave the house.

I'm a very unhappy camper right now! :-(

* I forgot to mention in the blog that last Friday was another one of those very unfair days (third one!) in which both my husband and sons had a snow day and I didn't and had to drive 152 miles to teach at University #2. :-( To add insult to injury we had almost 10 inches of snow on Thursday, so the snow was absolutely fantastic Friday & they loved it. :-( That's why we went today, also because it will probably be the last time this year.

Homemade Pippi Longstocking

Last night I went to a "Carnevale" department party and dressed as an improvised Pippi Longstocking. Apart from the lack of red hair, it was not too bad, wais it?
Selfie in the bathroom so you can see the pipe-cleaner enhanced braids better:
I have a feeling Bright * will like these. She can be a great Alice in Wonderland!

The Bronte Sisters Action Dolls!

This fake commercial is just so fun, I had to share it. I really like the Brontë sisters and Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite books (there's also the Norton Critical Edition ;-). So much so that my youngest son's name was taken from that book (the oldest's name has a relationship to my husband's discipline, but I won't blog about that).

Enjoy:

It was a little harder to explain to my boys what this "commercial" was all about (especially after I said all excited that one of their names had come from one of their books ;-). Someday they'll understand...

The Things I Dream of Doing or Post Dissertation Resolutions

When the dissertation is done I dream of...

~Re-organizing my photos and putting them into semi-scrapbook albums (I use most of my photos, not just a selected few, crop some, use some stickers and special paper, but cannot stand full-blown scrapbooking).

~ Making more online photo albums for family and friends who are away, maybe even ordering some nice photo books.

~ Continuing to work on the house renovation projects.

~ Joining the Y with the family and having the boys take swimming and gymnastic lessons.

~ Exercising there too. I'm seriously lacking in this area.

~ Gardening as much as possible.

~ De-cluttering my house and trying to keep my stuff more organized.

~ Using an online tool to classify our books and CDs.

~ Watch more DVDs.

~ Cook more healthy and varied meals for our family.

~ Go more often to Longwood Gardens. I'm absolutely heartbroken that I haven't been there in over three months.

~ Join the Zoo and visit with the boys (although I don't like zoos too much, I feel depressed for the animals).

~ Blog more.

Just enjoying life and spending time with my family and friends.

P.S. I just sent the only chapter that was overdue to two of my committee members. I'll work on it some more and email it to the other two. Slowly but surely this is going to end!

My Wild Self

I just saw this at Scrivener's place (here) and I had to go get one.
You can get yours here.

To save it (they don't have this option) you can select "Get a wild desktop" and then save the image (that's what I did) or email it to yourself (you'll probably want to crop it before posting since it comes with a message -- I think this is what Scriv did since his background is yellow, just like the image in the email I got).

I'm a "Lun-pol-fly-tiger" (you can click on the image to see a the full version). Tigers are my favorite animals (I love felines in general), so I couldn't resist having the paws, legs, and tail and then, the Monarch butterfly wings matched! :) I think the polar bear ears are cute, and the luna moth antennae are charming, not to mention their super smelling powers. Roar!
