Before & After - That's Why It's So Painful

I can't look at these photos without crying, it's just too much to bear, so I need to share them with you. Maybe it'll ease the pain (just the work of uploading and arranging them within the post has already been helpful! ;-). Someday I want to have a slide show of the transformation (and one of those hardcover books -- I wanted to have it for the showing, but in the end I think I'll never print these out and make the book), but for now these will do.

I know that the change in furniture style makes a huge difference, as does wall color, but still, this is a completely different house.

Hallway:

Living Room:
Kitchen:
Dining room
(I wish I had photos of the same angle -- I took tons, but they're all at home in the desktop :-( ):Master Bedroom (note: ceiling fan's still there):
And the most dramatic change - Family Room:So, what do you think?

  2. I meant to email you back about this pictures yesterday, but I forgot. HOly COW! I can't believe it is even the same house! It is an amazing difference! I can see why you are sad to leave after all that work.

  3. Are you SURE this is the same house? Lilian, you have done SPECTACULAR work here. The house looks a million times better than it did when you bought it -- you've made this little corner of the world a better place. (I especially like the entryway!)

I know you're sad about this, and I would be, too. But on the flip side, isn't nice to know that if you can transform THIS, you can do just about anything?

  4. It is stunning, Lilian, you did an amazing job. Remember to keep all of your receipts organized in case you get stuck with capital gains taxes when you sell, it will help to offset them. This, unfortunately, I know from experience. PS--I can't believe you always say you're not a good housekeeper, everything looks beautiful.

  5. Wow, what a transformation! I can't even imagine how hard it is to put so much of your heart into something and then have to sell...Okay, actually I can. We completely renovated our house in Texas while I was in grad school, and then sold it before moving north. Although the circumstances weren't as trying, I still found it to be very difficult to watch people walk through the home that I had created through a whole lot of money and sweat. Even now I have pangs of longing for that house. Sigh. I'm sorry you have to sell. Hugs.
